LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven lacrosse scored three times and didn't allow a goal in the third quarter to take down Frostburg State 9-7 in an exciting non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.

With the victory, Lock Haven improves to 3-3 on the season and Frostburg State falls to 3-5. Two of Lock Haven's three losses this season have came at the hands of nationally-ranked opponents.

The two schools were deadlocked across the board in the first half and went into the break tied 4-4.

However, Lock Haven took full control in the third period behind a shutout and three goal to build a 7-4 advantage.

Frostburg State outscored The Haven, 3-2, in the fourth quarter, but time was no longer on the Bobcats side and the Bald Eagles clinched the victory.

Gretchen King was lights out in net and finished with a game-high 11 saves. King didn't allow a goal in the third period to allow Lock Haven to take the lead, one they would never relinquish.

The defensive unit in front of king also helped decide the game, as the group finished with a game-high 12 caused turnovers.
Kaitlyn Collins led the way with seven caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Sam Hauck and King added three ground balls each.

The Haven also won 11 draw controls, behind a team-high three from
Nadia Baskot and
Gabby Gunnip.

On the offensive end, four different Bald Eagles scored and were led by hat-tricks by Gunnip and
Makayla Kelly. Gunnip found the back of the net four times, while Kelly added three goals.

Baskot and Collins rounded out the group of scorers for Lock Haven.

The Bald Eagles hit the road and will visit Edinboro on Wednesday, March 19 for a 4 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West showdown.
