Green knocks down five treys, Men’s Basketball edges out Mansfield at home

The Bald Eagles won their second PSAC game of the season and first in the Eastern Division after beating Mansfield on Tuesday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven men's basketball team held off a furious late charge from Mansfield and Dyllon Scott knocked down a pair of free throws in the final seconds to secure a 78-76 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory Wednesday night (Jan. 13) at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Mike Green went a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arch and the Bald Eagles led 42-39 at halftime. The Haven pushed its advantage to as many as seven in the second half before Mansfield rallied to tie the game at 76-76 in the final minute.

Scott drew a foul with 17 seconds remaining and was as cool as the other side of the pillow as he knocked down both free throws to give the Bald Eagles a 78-76 advantage. The Haven defense forced a wild Mansfield layup attempt as the clock struck zero and the Bald Eagles held on for the win at home.

With the victory, the Bald Eagles improved to 6-9 on the season and 2-6 in the PSAC, while Mansfield slips to 1-13 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

Scott's free throws capped an 18-point performance that included a 5-for-5 effort at the line and nine rebounds off the bench.

Keith Warren added 15 points and three 3-pointers, while Green came off the bench to pour in 15 points on a perfect 5-for-5 night from long range. Lock Haven's reserves outscored Mansfield's bench 38-32.

Luke Kennevan chipped in 12 points and six rebounds and Blake Deegan posted 10 points and a team-high eight boards, giving Lock Haven four players in double figures and a 36-33 edge on the glass.

Dean Coleman-Newsome directed the offense with seven assists, helping the Bald Eagles to 22 total assists on 29 made field goals in a balanced offensive effort.

Mansfield remained in the game and nearly orchestrated the comeback thanks to a strong shooting night from deep, which included a 50 percent effort (8-for-16) in the first half.
