Women’s Basketball wins 11th straight game, downs Kutztown at home

The Bald Eagles won their 11th straight game and improved to 11-0 in the PSAC East after downing Kutztown at home on Saturday

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven women's basketball team led from start to finish to secure its 11th straight victory, in a 65-54 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) win over Kutztown at home on Saturday.
 
The Haven continued its dominance in the PSAC Eastern Division and won its 11th straight game to improve to 11-0 in the East, while moving to 17-5 overall and 13-3 in the overall conference.
 
Lock Haven also improved to an impressive 11-1 in front of the home crowd of Thomas Fieldhouse. The Haven has already clinched a berth to the PSAC Championship Tournament.
 
KU, the second-place team in the East, is now 13-9 on the year and 9-6 in the conference.
 
Alana Robinson turned in a monstrous effort on both end of the floor and finished with a game-high six steals, two blocks, four assists, nine rebounds and 13 points.
 
Nufi Nemale-Djiegoue and Madeline Evans netted a team-high 15 points each, while Evans added 12 rebounds for a double-double and Nemale knocked down three shots from behind the arch.
 
Rhlyn Rouse also finished with a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds), while Jenadia Jordan added nine points, three assists, three assists.
 
The Bald Eagles knocked down five trifectas and held Kutztown to 31 percent from the floor to build a 19-15 advantage after the opening period.
 
The Haven's defense continued to assert its dominance, as the Bald Eagles held KU to 25 percent shooting in the second quarter to extend its lead to 33-25 heading into the break.
 
Nemale-Djiegoue knocked down three shots from behind the arch in the first half to lead all scorers with 10 points.
 
The Haven continued to separate in the third period by outscoring KU, 15-11, to extend its lead to 12 at 49-37 heading into the final 10 minutes.
 
Kutztown had its best quarter in the fourth and outscored The Haven 18-16, but the deficit proved too much and LH secured the win.
 
The Haven knocked down a game-high six three points and held a huge advantage at the free-throw line, with 27 makes compared to 12 from KU.
 
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles hit the road to visit Millersville on Saturday, Feb. 14 for a 1 p.m. PSAC East battle.
