LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –  The Lock Haven baseball team hosted Gannon this afternoon in its final Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Conference series, taking game one 9-8 and falling 7-4 in game two at Watkins Field.Â
Game One: Lock Haven 9 – Gannon 8
In game one, The Haven erupted for eight runs between the first two innings.
Cayde McCloskey got the scoring started with a two-RBI single and Cayden Robertson followed him with an RBI knock of his own, pushing the lead 3-0.
Gardner Fravel lined an RBI single of his own to left, capping off a four-run first inning.
Lock Haven scored four more in the second, thanks to a McCloskey sac-fly and a Robertson three-run round tripper to push the lead 8-0.
However, the Golden Knights battled all the way back and knotted everything at 8-8.
In the sixth, Zachary McEllroy drilled an RBI knock, which put The Haven up 9-8.
Michael Mariano Jr. earned his first collegiate win, going 3.1 innings, allowed two hits and struck out four.
Game Two: Gannon 7 – Lock Haven 4
In the nightcap, The Golden Knights led 1-0 after the first, but McEllroy drove in two with an RBI double, taking the lead back 2-1, in the second.Â
Gannon scored a solo run in the third to knot it back at 2-2 in the third.
The Haven scored two runs in the fourth off back-to-back RBI singles from Jerry Lambert and Nick Negola to push the lead to 4-2.
However, Gannon recovered and scored five unanswered runs to steal game two, 7-4.
Aiden Starn was solid from the pen, going two innings of no-hit ball.
The series completes the season for the Bald Eagles with a final record of 9-39 overall and 5-22 in PSAC West play. Gannon moves on to the PSAC playoffs, starting next week in Slippery Rock, Pa.
