A Letter from the Athletic Director
Dear Visitor,
Welcome to Lock Haven University’s athletics website. As the new Athletic Director here at “The Haven,” I am excited about our future and look forward to working together with our faculty, staff, students, fans, alumni and community leaders to further build upon our foundation and maximize our competitiveness in the classroom and across all of our sports programs.
Athletically, we offer a broad-based program that includes two Division I sports (wrestling & field hockey) and 16 Division II sports (baseball, M/W basketball, M/W cross country, football, M/W indoor & outdoor track, W lacrosse, softball, W volleyball, M/W soccer, and W swimming). With wrestling participating in the Eastern Wrestling League, field hockey participating in the Atlantic 10 Conference, and all of our sports participating within the highly competitive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the platform for our student-athletes to compete at the highest levels locally, regionally and nationally is outstanding.
This past year we had 11 teams qualify for post-season competition, eight student-athletes individually qualify for NCAA championships, three teams win regular season and/or conference championships, six student-athletes honored for individual championships, and 59 student-athletes selected for athletic performance accolades.
Academically, Lock Haven Student-Athletes also continued to perform at high levels. This past fall marked the first annual LHU honor roll that included 118 student-athletes (29%) earning a fall semester GPA of 3.25 or higher. During the same period, our student-athlete graduation rate was ranked highest among PSAC schools. This past academic year also showed that seven teams (39%) had cumulative team GPAs of 3.00 or higher and the cumulative GPA for all LHU athletic teams was 3.0. In addition, 132 student-athletes received national or conference accolades for their academic performances.
Lock Haven University Athletics values: education, leadership, teamwork, service, sportsmanship and family. We are committed to becoming the very best in everything that we do on-and-off the field. Each member of our TEAM understands our responsibility to educate. Our focus is on developing within each student-athlete in our care life-long attributes that will prepare them well for their chosen profession and “life after sport.” When our student-athletes graduate, we want them to be able to say “YES” to the question - - if you were able to do it all over again, would you make the same decision to attend LHU as a student-athlete?
Enjoy visiting our website and thank you for your interest in Lock Haven University and our athletics programs. Whether you are a current student-athlete, prospective student-athlete, parent, alum, community member or fan, I hope that you find the site interactive and helpful.
Go Haven!
