John Schwien

In July 2018, LHU head men's soccer coach Patrick Long announced the addition of John Schwien as the new graduate assistant coach.

This upcoming 2019 season marks his second with the Bald Eagles.

Schwien came to LHU after a well-decorated collegiate playing career. The Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania native graduated from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio in May (2018), earning a degree in business management with a focus in human resources.

The three-year dean's list student was a standout player at Cedarville. Schwien was a three-year starter at center-midfield, who started all 58 games he played in.

At Cedarville, Schwien was a two-time All-American, earning First Team honors in 2017. He was a three-time All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference selection, a two-time First Team OCSA All-Ohio Division II selection and a multiple All-Midwest Region selection. Academically, he excelled as well and Schwien was named to the All-GMAC Academic Team three times. He was also a two-time OCSA All-Ohio DII Academic Team pick and a three-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.

Prior to playing at Cedarville, Schwien spent one season at Gordon College, an NCAA Division III institution in Wenham, Massachusetts, where he stared all 21 games during his freshman season.

Along with semi-professional playing experience, Schwien also has a strong coaching background at the club level. He currently holds a 'F" coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and has elite youth club coaching experience with Dayton Dutch Lions FC, Penn Fusion Soccer Academy and FC Brandywine Soccer Club.

The 2018 season was a special one for Lock Haven as the Bald Eagles captured the 2018 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II title, thanks to a dominating 3-0 win over Salem University. The championship win pushed Lock Haven over .500 as LHU finished the 2018 season at 8-7-3 overall.

The Bald Eagles closed the 2018 regular season on October 27 at California (Pa.) with a 2-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory. It marked LHU's second straight win as Lock Haven closed the regular season with a two-match win streak and a three-match unbeaten streak (2-0-1). Lock Haven finished the 2018 regular season with a 7-7-3 record, marking the Bald Eagles first .500 finish in regular season play since going 11-7-1 in 2011. The ECAC Tournament match marked Lock Haven's first postseason match of any sort since a 2015 PSAC First Round match at rival Bloomsburg.

Standout Beckham Sibiski earned 2018 All-Conference and All-Region honors under Schwein’s guidance.
