Doug Spatafore is in his 18^th year (2024-25) of athletic communications at The Haven.  

When Lock Haven integrated with Bloomsburg and Mansfield and established Commonwealth University in July 2022, Spatafore assumed the role as Senior Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing with oversight of all three campuses.

The Athletic Communications and Marketing Department oversees the publication and promotion of the varsity athletic departments and programs at Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield.

Key areas of focus include: media relations, communications, marketing, statistics, video production, live streaming video, event management, social media and oversite of the official athletic websites.

In July 2024, Spatafore was appointed as the Lock Haven Campus Lead for communications.

Prior to integration, Spatafore was promoted to Senior Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing in 2019, where he served as the primary media and sports information contact for all 21 sports. He orchestrated and oversaw the successful and transition of the office to the Office of Athletic Communications and Marketing from Sports Information.

Originally hired at Lock Haven in February 2007, Spatafore – a proud 2006 LHU graduate is the longest tenured athletic communication professional in school history, and sits as one of the longest tenured athletic communication professionals currently active in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

During his lengthy tenure, the athletic communication and marketing office has shown unrivaled growth and enjoyed a number of milestones.

 An award-winning professional, Spatafore is also active in a number of professional organizations and leads a number of conference and regional committees. Most recently Spatafore served a two-year term as President of the PSAC Sports Information Directors.
