Owen Lukens was named the Director of Athletic Communications and Marketing at Lock Haven in 2023-24. He is the primary contact for Lock Haven's athletic media relations and steers the publicity efforts for the university's 21 intercollegiate athletic teams.
Lukens joins The Haven from Mansfield, where he spent the previous four years as the director of athletic communications and marketing for the Mountaineers.
While at Mansfield, Lukens was the primary media contact for all 13 athletic programs and was responsible for writing press releases, recording statistics, editing video highlight packages, creating gameday graphics and coordinating media interviews with the Mountaineers. Lukens was responsible for the design, layout and all current and historical content on the official Athletics website, Gomounties.com. In 2021, Lukens oversaw the transition of the office from its former title, Sports Information, to its current title Athletic Communications & Marketing.
Prior to Mansfield, Lukens spent two years (2018-19) as the athletic communications assistant at Lycoming College in nearby Williamsport, Pennsylvania. While at Lycoming, Lukens also served as a sports writer and an editor with the Williamsport Sun Gazette.
Professionally, Lukens has served as a judge on the College Sports Communications (formerly CoSIDA) Stabley Writing Contest since 2019.
The Williamsport native was a five-year member of the Mountaineer baseball program from 2014-18.
Following his baseball career at Mansfield, Lukens was named to the 2022 USA Men's Fastpitch National Team, which placed fourth in the Pan American Championships in Paraná, Argentina after finishing with a 5-3 record.
Lukens graduated from Mansfield with a bachelors in communication – public relations in 2018. He received the annual Steve McCloskey Service Award in 2018 for outstanding service to the Mansfield Athletic Department.
