LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For his efforts during the 2019 season, current interim Head Coach
Bill Nickell has been chosen as a finalist for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Assistant Coach of the Year for Division II.
Nickell was listed as just one of three finalists for Division II. This award is to honor assistant coaches who "excel in community service, commitment to the student athlete, on-field coaching success and AFCA professional organization involvement" according to the AFCA release. The AFCA characterizes impact on student-athletes to the utmost importance.
As the offensive coordinator for the Bald Eagles during the 2019 season, Nickell's led running back
Chantz Swartz and offensive lineman
Trevor Miller to All-PSAC honors. He also helped make school history, as the 2019 season was the first time the Bald Eagles ever finished with both 2000 yards passing and rushing.
Bill Nickell has recently moved into interim head coaching duties for Lock Haven University Football effective Monday, November 19
th.
