NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has added Saint Francis University (Pa.) as an affiliate member in field hockey.

The Red Flash will begin play immediately this fall.

SFU joins Lock Haven as the only two affiliate members of the A-10 who compete solely in field hockey. Lock Haven joined the league as an affiliate member in 2010.

The addition of Saint Francis brings the total number of field hockey teams in the A-10 to eight. That number will reach nine in 2014 with the addition of Davidson College, which is joining the Atlantic 10 in all sports.
