Alex Monroe (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) of the Lock Haven University men's indoor track & field team has been named this week's GoLHU.com male athlete of the week.

Monroe took to the indoor oval at Cornell Saturday and dominated the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational 5K field en route to an NCAA qualifying mark.

He clocked a 14:32.56 and bested second place by 25 seconds.

Monroe's NCAA provisional qualifying mark at Cornell converted down to a 14:23.31, which is the second best mark this year in the PSAC and ranks him 13th in the nation.

Monroe was named the PSAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts. It marks the second time this season he's received the award.
