The game:
For the third straight week, the Bald Eagles will take on a nationally ranked team when they host No. 16 California (Pa.) University. The game will be the second for both teams in PSAC West play. Kickoff at Hubert Jack Stadium (3,500) on the campus of Lock Haven University is set for 7:30 p.m. Lock Haven enters the game with a record of 0-3 after falling to Mercyhurst College last week 42-3. This will be the third home game for Lock Haven on the young season.

Setting the stage:
The Vulcans enter the game ranked No. 16 in the national rankings with an overall record of 3-1 and are 1-0 in the PSAC West after defeating Clarion last week 40-13. Cal brings a high powered offense to the field led by junior quarterback Peter Lalich and senior wide receiver Thomas Mayo. Lalich is currently fourth in the conference in passing yards averaging 289.0 per game. Through four weeks, Mayo leads the PSAC in receiving, averaging 8.0 catches and 156.2 yards per game. The Bald Eagles enter the game with an overall record of 0-3 and are 0-1 in the PSAC West. LHU lost to Mercyhurst College last week 42-3 in their PSAC West opener. The loss brought the Bald Eagles' losing streak to 35 games. The PSAC record for consecutive losses is 39 by Cheyney (1994-98) and the Division II record is 46 by Minnesota-Morris (1998-2003). Lock Haven's last win came in the 2007 season finale on the road at Clarion University (17-14 OT).
The series:
Cal leads the all-time series 38-26-1 over the Bald Eagles. The Vulcans have won seven straight games against LHU dating back to the 2004 season, including a 58-0 win last season. The first meeting between the two teams was in 1926 with Cal winning 28-0.
Last time vs. Cal
Lock Haven and California (Pa.) met in week five of the 2010 season. The Vulcans were ranked No. 6 in the country at that time and were able to defeat the Bald Eagles 58-0. The Bald Eagles struggled to move the ball offensively. Wide receiver

Lock Haven's last time out:
The Bald Eagles fell to Mercyhurst last week 42-3 in their PSAC West opener. The Bald Eagles played a tough first half, squandering a few scoring opportunities, but trailed just 14-3 at halftime. Mercyhurst proved to be too much for LHU in the end as they put up 28 second half points.Senior quarterback

Jay Hartman averaged just over 23 kickoff return yards on six returns. Defensive back Ray Mosby lead the Bald Eagles defense with seven tackles and forced a fumble.
Cal's last time out:
The Vulcans opened up PSAC West play last week with a 40-13 victory over Clarion University. Quarterback Peter Lalich threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Thomas Mayo had seven catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns and running back Lamont Smith ran for 155 yards on 17 carries. Sophomore linebacker Brian Justice recorded 11 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss to lead the defense. Justice is currently fourth in the PSAC in tackles per game averaging 9.2.
Heimer one of best in nation:
Senior kicker
Noah Heimer had another strong performance vs. Mercyhurst. Heimer went 1-for-2 on field goals on the day. He made a 23 yard field goal and had a 45 yarder hit the crossbar falling just short. Heimer is now 5-for-7 on the year with a long of 36 yards. His five field goals made rank him fourth in the conference and his 71.4% field goal percentage rank him seventh in the conference. He is also ninth in the conference in scoring with 17 points. Noah is ranked 10th in the nation and fourth in the conference averaging 1.67 field goals per game. Heimer is on the watch list for the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award. He has been nominated for his play during the month of September.
Brader top-10 PSAC in rushing:
Sophomore running back
Brandon Brader continues to lead the Bald Eagle rushing attack. He is currently ranked 36th in the nation and sixth in the PSAC in rushing, averaging 95.0 yards per game. Last week vs. Mercyhurst he ran for 71 yards. Brader started the year off by running for 105 yards in the Bald Eagles' opener vs. Millersville, and 109 yards in the second game vs. Kutztown. He was the first Bald Eagle rusher to eclipse the 100 yard mark in back-to-back games since 2005.
Passing attack remains strong:
The Bald Eagle passing attack continues to be consistent through the first three games of the season. Quarterback
Jarryd Burkett has thrown for 558 yards, and his 186.0 yards per game average ranks him seventh in the PSAC in passing. Wide Receiver
Devin Sims has been a big target for Burkett so far. Sims leads the Bald Eagles with 218 yards. His 72.7 yards per game average ranks him eighth in the PSAC.
PSAC in the AFCA Poll:
PSAC schools are doing a good job representing the conference in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Polls. Heading into week five, there are four PSAC schools ranked in the top 25 of the poll. Bloomsburg leads the way as they are ranked No. 5. Kutztown remains at No. 12, California (Pa.) is ranked No. 16, and Edinboro is ranked No. 18. Lock Haven's game with Cal this week marks the third straight week that the Bald Eagles have played a ranked team. LHU fell to Kutztown 49-6 in week three and 42-3 to Mercyhurst in week four. The Bald Eagles are scheduled to play Edinboro and Bloomsburg later on this season.
