Lock Haven – Mercyhurst Box Score
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 10 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (11-6) led by three goals with less than 10 minutes to play, but a late Laker rally lifted Mercyhurst University (13-6) past the Lady Eagles, 10-9 in today's PSAC Semifinal match.
The Lady Eagles controlled the play early and led 5-2 at half. Lock Haven's strong play continued early in the second and The Haven stretched its lead to 9-6 with 9:02 to play in the match.
The Lakers rallied for four straight goals to close out the game. The win moves Mercyhurst into tomorrow's (Saturday, May 5) PSAC Championships game (4 p.m.). The Lakers will take on Bloomsburg in the title game after the Huskies upset No. 6 West Chester in the day's second semifinal.
Offensively, Lock Haven was led by
Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and
Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), who combined for five goals. Fisher had three and Johnson added two.
Johnson recorded a five-point game, as she also dished out a team-best three assists.
Emily Cilla (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) was also tough offensively for LHU. She finished with two goals and four draw controls.
Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) and
Julie Moran (Unionville, Pa./Unionville) both scored for Lock Haven.
Moran turned in a sensational all-round effort as she also had three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson) and
Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton) were both tough on defense for LHU. Gaeng had two caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Wojt had four caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) made seven saves in the loss.
Mercyhurst was led by Rebecca Himes, who scored a game-high four goals. Anna Legrett dished three assists and added one goal in the win.
Mercyhurst will take on Bloomsburg tomorrow in the title game. The Huskies endured a four hour and eight minute weather delay on the way to their huge upset over West Chester.
Tomorrow's title game will mark the first time in since 2005 that LHU and West Chester are not playing for the championship. Lock Haven was in search of its fourth straight crown.
In 2005 it was West Chester beating Bloomsburg for the title.
Bloomsburg will be in search of its fourth conference crown overall and first since 2003, while this marks Mercyhurst's first trip to the title game since becoming a member of the PSAC.
