LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team is set to host the 2013 PSAC Tournament tomorrow (Friday, May 3) and Saturday, May 4 at The Haven's Charlotte Smith Field.

The 2013 tournament opens with a pair of semifinal-contests tomorrow. Lock Haven, the top-seed hosts defending-champion Bloomsburg at 1 p.m., while No. 2 West Chester takes on No. 3 IUP at 4 p.m.

LHU earned its second straight PSAC regular season title and the top-seed after a perfect 11-0 run through conference play. It marked the first time since 1991, where LHU went undefeated in PSAC play.

Bloomsburg (10-7), the five-seed is coming off a 17-10 win over Mercyhurst on Tuesday night. Last year, Bloom beat the Lakers, 15-9 in the title game. Last year's championship game snapped a streak of six straight PSAC title games between Lock Haven and West Chester.

No. 7 West Chester (13-4) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Golden Rams will take on three-seed IUP (14-2). The Crimson Hawks, ranked No. 12 nationally, beat Gannon 19-10 in Tuesday night quarterfinal action. IUP's only losses this year are to LHU and WCU.

West Chester has won a PSAC-leading 20 conference titles.

The No. 6 Lady Eagles are looking for their fourth PSAC title in five seasons and look fit to make a run after a remarkable 14-1 regular season. Lock Haven, who was still ranked No. 3 in yesterday's NCAA Division II South Region rankings is on an 11-match win streak.

The Lady Eagles lost their last game in PSAC Tournament play, dropping a 2012 semifinal match to Mercyhurst 10-9. Lock Haven had won three straight PSAC titles from 2009 to 2011.

When scouting the Lady Eagles it's tough to point out just one-strength to their success. Lock Haven is outscoring its opponents 231-97, while averaging 15 goals a game.

When you combine that explosive-attack with tough defense and sensational goaltending, Lock Haven becomes a major threat to win the title this weekend.

Lock Haven's offense is paced by the play of junior Chelsea Borrino (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas), who leads the PSAC in assists per game. She has 72 points on the year, including 58 assists.

One of her main passing targets is Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North), who leads the PSAC in goals per game. She has 56 on the year.

Pandolf leads a three-headed goal-scoring monster for Lock Haven, joining Kelly Hamilton (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) and Rachel Ward (Fishers, Ind./Bishop Chatard). Hamilton has 45 goals, while Ward, who has really found her scoring touch as of late adds 34 goals.

Defensively, the Lady Eagles unit has been dominant top to bottom. Jenna Dingler (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) has been one of the biggest keys as a tremendous dual threat in midfield. She combines 23 points with a team-high 20 caused-turnovers and 30 ground balls.

Defenders Lindsay Walbrandt (Souderton, Pa./Souderton), Melinda Wojt (Telford, Pa./Souderton) and Christina Hawkins (Harvre de Grace, Md./Harve de Grace) have been brilliant throughout the year for LHU.

Holding it all down for Lock Haven is redshirt-freshman goalie Chrissy Baffuto (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central), who is 14-1 on the year and leads the PSAC in save-percentage (.500) and goals-against-average (6.47).
