Baseball splits doubleheader with East Stroudsburg in PSAC East action

Bald Eagles continue weekend series with ESU on the road tomorrow

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (10-11, 2-6 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with East Stroudsburg (19-10, 5-7 PSAC East) today at a cold and windy Foundation Field.

Lock Haven won game one, 7-5, but fell in game two, 10-5.

LHU jumped out to an early, 5-1 lead in game one.  After scoring two runs in the first inning, the Bald Eagles smacked four hits and plated three more runs in the second.

Ryan Henritzy (Newtown Square, Pa./Council Rock North) singled home LHU's first run of the second with a bloop single to centerfield.

With runners on second and third and one out, Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) crushed a double off of the leftfield wall to put LHU up, 5-1 through two innings of play.

East Stroudsburg would come roaring back however, as the Warriors scored four runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game at, 5-5.

LHU would answer in its half of the fourth inning.  Zuback put The Haven back in the lead with an RBI groundout and Anthony Kyne (Newtown, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) singled home another run to give the Bald Eagles the lead, 7-5.

LHU added two insurance runs in the sixth to close out the win.

Henritzy went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Zuback finished with a game-high three RBIs.

Kyne and Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) each drove in two runs for LHU.

Madison Neddo (Earlville, Md./Coppin State Univ.) picked up the win on the mound.  Neddo threw 3.2 innings of relief and recorded five strikeouts.

The Bald Eagles fell in game two, 10-5.

LHU scored two runs off of ESU starter, Matt Festa in the first inning.  Festa would settle in after that however, on his way to the complete game win.

Kyne led LHU with two hits in game two and he drove in one run.

Botts went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Zuback and Henritzy each tallied one hit and one RBI in the loss.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) threw five innings and allowed six runs (five earned) in the loss.

Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow (Sunday, April 6) when the Bald Eagles close out their four game series with the Warriors at East Stroudsburg.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
