LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-3, 0-2 PSAC) rallied for 13 second-half points and the Bald Eagles defense played gritty football for 60 minutes, but nationally-ranked Indiana (Pa.) University (2-1, 1-1 PSAC) edged LHU, 21-16.

The Crimson Hawks scored touchdowns late in each of the first two quarters, but a late Lock Haven field goal had the Bald Eagles trailing just 14-3 at halftime.

Alex Boumerhi's (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg Osceola) 21-yard field goal with just five seconds left in the first half capped a 10-play, 60-yard drive and put Lock Haven on the board.

IUP and LHU exchanged touchdowns on their respective opening drives of the second half.

Indiana went 74 yards in seven plays, using 3:27 to go up 21-3.

The Bald Eagles were quick to respond and
Bernard Smack's (State College, Pa./Shippensburg Univ.) 12-yard TD catch capped a 14-play, 69-yard drive engineered by quarterback
Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).

Lock Haven's defense came up huge in the fourth quarter and interceptions from
Kedar Hunter (Jamaica, N.Y./Stony Brook) and
Daniel Strawbridge (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg) gave LHU a chance to rally.

Hunter's pick set up a Haven touchdown drive. Following Hunter's interception, the Bald Eagles went 31-yards on seven plays. The drive was capped by
David Cook's (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) two-yard TD catch. LHU went for two and failed, making it 21-16 IUP.

Strawbridge's interception gave LHU the ball with 3:46 left, but the Bald Eagles turned it over on downs, as IUP survived for the road-win.

The Bald Eagles defense came up huge again and again today, and was led by
George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), who finished with a game and season-high 13 tackles.
Tony Ballon (Jersey City, N.J./Harrisburg) had 11 stops and
Jeff Pickel (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) added a career-high 10 tackles.

Walton passed for over 220 yards for third straight game and threw two touchdowns for the second straight week. He was 25-of-40 today for 221 yards.

Smack caught seven passes for 60 yards and Cooks grabbed six catches for 49 yards.

Lock Haven returns to action next Saturday, September 27 on the road at East Stroudsburg. Kickoff is set for 3:05 p.m. It marks the first of two straight PSAC East road games for the Bald Eagles.
