Volleyball picks up a pair of wins

Lady Eagle s down Kutztown before defeating Daemen in three sets

LOCK HAVEN, PA. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (10-4, 4-2, PSAC)  picked up a pair of wins against visiting Kutztown University (7-6, 1-5 PSAC) and Daemen College (0-14, 0-3 ECC)
 
LHU (10-4, 4-2) opened the day with a, 4-1 (25-22, 25-18, 25-27, & 25-18) win over Kutztown University (7-6, 1-5 PSAC). 
 
Leading the way in the first match for Lock Haven was freshman Sarah Gomish (Ebensburg, Pa./Bishop Carrol) with a game-high 22 kills and 9 digs.
 
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) continued to have a dominating senior year with 14 kills.
 
Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle) added 10 kills in the win. 
 
Jessica Brown (Fawn-Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) dished out 55 assists and recorded nine digs.
 
Defensively, Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) continued to lead LHU with 33 digs. 
 
Freshman Annie Dombrowksi (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) recorded a strong defensive match with 12 digs.
 
In the second match of the night the Lady Eagles cruised to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-12) win over Daemen College with an all-around Haven effort.
 
Flick ignited the Haven offense with a game-high 12 kills. 
 
Anderson and Kaleigh Hudak (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) added 9 kills, respectively.
 
Brown paced The Lady Eagles with 38 assists and seven digs.
 
Bethany Burns (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Belcastro were the defensive-duo with 15 and 14 digs.
 
The Lady Eagles recorded five aces in the win.
 
The Lady Eagles are back in action Tuesday, September 30 (7 p.m.) against Pitt-Johnstown in conference play.
