JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (2-9-1, 2-8-1 PSAC) dominated on the stat sheet, but played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with conference foe Pitt-Johnstown (0-11-1, 0-11-1 PSAC) today on the road.
After a scoreless first half dominated by the Bald Eagles, Lock Haven continued their momentum and struck first in the 79
th minute with a goal from junior midfielder,
Sarah Bonelli (Apollo, Pa./Apollo-Ridge).
Bonelli took a pass from
Felicia Cramer (New Bloomfield, Pa./West Perry) and put it past UPJ netminder Leigh Appolonia for her third tally of the season. She led all players today with 15 shots.
The assist was Cramer's first point of the 2015 campaign.
Forty-nine seconds later, Pitt-Johnstown's Rachel Fleming tied the game up with her first of the season. Following a shot - a rebound was loose off of LHU's netminder
Katie Gable (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Fleming took advantage to even the score.
The two teams would remain scoreless through both overtime frames.
LHU outshot UPJ 41-14 in the contest.
Taylor Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) led LHU in the first half with six attempts at the cage, four of which needed to be turned away by Appolonia. She finished the contest with 11 shots on the afternoon.
Gable made six saves in her Lock Haven debut, while Appolonia made 19 saves in a losing effort.
As part of Lock Haven's 2015 Homecoming Week, the Bald Eagles host Mansfield on Tuesday, October 13 at 3 p.m.
