CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team beat Cheyney University twice tonight in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action. The Bald Eagles won both matches in straight sets.
Earlier this season, it was determined that Lock Haven would play both PSAC East season-series matches at Cheyney, one as the away team and one as the home team. LHU won 3-0 (25-12, 25-11 & 25-13) and 3-0 (25-20, 25-17 & 25-17) tonight, picking up important PSAC East wins as the playoffs lurk on the horizon.
With the two wins, Lock Haven improves to 21-11 overall and the Bald Eagles are now 13-8 in conference action.
Leading the way in match one was
Holly Shoemaker (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) and
Annie Dombrowski (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle), who each had nine kills.
Olivia Sass (Roanoke, Va./Cave Spring) dished out 28 assists.
Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) had 14 digs and Sass added 13.
In match two,
Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) had 16 kills.
Sass led Lock Haven with 39 assists and Whiteman recorded 27 digs.
LHU closes out the 2015 regular season tomorrow (Saturday, November 14) with a huge match at West Chester (1 p.m.). Lock Haven (13-8) has a one-game lead on West Chester (12-9) in the PSAC standings following tonight's contests.
The PSAC Tournament begins on Tuesday (November 17).
