WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior
Wali Hepburn's (Philadelphia/Neumann-Goretti) turned in a historic outing, recording a monster triple-double, but it wasn't enough for the Lock Haven University men's basketball team, as West Chester University rallied late to edge LHU, 76-75.
Hepburn netted 22 points to along with 11 assists and 10 rebounds. It is believed to be the first triple-double in the history of LHU men's basketball.
Hepburn was one of three Bald Eagles, who scored in double-figures. Both
Al Blount (Northampton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) and
Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) netted 11 points apiece.
Walker added 13 rebounds, while Blount had four assists and four rebounds.
Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) knocked down nine points and added four boards for The Haven.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) chipped in with eight points.
Lock Haven (6-14, 6-10 PSAC East) led by as many as 15, as the Bald Eagles looked poised to pick up the important PSAC East road win, but the host-Golden Rams rallied. Over the final 2:18 of regulation, WCU (12-11, 10-7 PSAC East) went on an 18-3 run and erased a 14-point deficit to edge LHU, who had a chance to win it at the buzzer.
Four different players scored in double figures for West Chester, including Parrish Grant, who scored 19.
LHU will host Mansfield University on Saturday, February 7 at 4 p.m.
