LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team dropped both games of a PSAC East doubleheader to visiting Bloomsburg University.
Bloomsburg (22-10, 17-5 PSAC East) won game one 9-0 and the Huskies edged Lock Haven (14-24, 10-14 PSAC East) 2-1 in game two (8 innings).
Game 1 Recap: L, 9-0 In game one, Bloomsburg scored nine runs on 12 hits.
LHU got three hits from three different players, including
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin),
Michelle Holweger (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) and
Paige Stuppy (Jonestown, Pa./Northern Lebanon), who each had a hit apiece.
Starting pitcher
Rachel Mouillesseaux (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) struck out seven.
Game 2 Recap: L, 2-1 (8 innings) Trailing 1-0, Holweger blasted a ball to deep centerfield for her first home run of the season. It tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth as Lock Haven looked to rally.
Bloomsburg found a long ball of its own and Holly Peacock's homer in the top of the eighth proved to the difference in the extra-inning win that led BU to the sweep.
Pitcher
Jessie Probst (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) struck out four on the way to an eight-inning, three-hitter. She had allowed just one hit through seven and issued just two walks in the game.
Stuppy was 2-for-3 at the plate.
LHU returns to action tomorrow (Friday, April 24) at 2 p.m. versus West Chester in Lock Haven's annual "Knock MS Out of the Park Game." The Haven closes out the 2015 regular season on Saturday, April 25 versus Millersville on "Senior Day."
