LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Zach Hommey (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) one minute into double-overtime pushing the Lock Haven University men's soccer team (3-3-1, 2-1 PSAC) by host Shippensburg (4-3, 1-3 PSAC) 2-1 (2OT) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The win marked the Bald Eagles second straight PSAC victory and moved LHU back to .500 on the season.
Lock Haven trailed late in the first half after conceding an own goal in the 33
rd minute.
The Bald Eagles tied the match just 3:05 later when
Tyler Sablyak (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) tucked home a rebound after
Troy Amspacher's (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) initial shot couldn't find the back of the net.
The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime and played a scoreless 45 minutes in the second half.
After a scoreless opening 10-minute overtime period, Hommey struck early in double-overtime, thanks to
Jacob Oldaker (Elliottsburg, Pa./West Perry), who set up the goal with a perfect crossing pass.
Haven goalkeeper
Troy Teresak (Pompton Plains, N.J./DePaul Catholic) made five saves in the match.
LHU held a slight edge in shots-on-goal, 7-6.
LHU returns to action on Saturday, September 26 at 6 p.m. when the Bald Eagles host rival East Stroudsburg.
