LEMONT FURNANCE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team's (5-1) continued its strong start to the 2016-17 season and improved to 5-1 with a dominating 101-68 win at Penn State Fayette (1-6).
It marks the first time LHU has been 5-1 since the 1993-94 season.
The Bald Eagles went on a torrid run late in the first half and led 56-34 at the break. Lock Haven shot 57 percent from the field and 58 percent from 3-point range.
Thanks to six players in double-figure scoring, including
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) with 20 points, the Bald Eagles surpassed the century mark for the first time since January 10, 2015.
Hinton was 7 of 12 from the field, 2 of 2 from 3-point range and he added eight rebounds.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist),
Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt),
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) and
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) all scored 12 points.
B. Jackson and Hunt grabbed six and five rebounds, respectively.
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) netted 11 points and
Fateem Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) added nine.
Tonight's win over Penn State Fayette was LHU's second of the season over the Roaring Lions after the two teams opened the season vs. each other at the Shippensburg Wolf's Bus Lines Classic.
LHU will return to PSAC action with a pair of tough road contests at Gannon (Saturday, Dec. 3) and Clarion (Sunday, Nov. 4).
