LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – For the first time in 20 days, the Lock Haven University men's basketball team (6-4, 2-4 PSAC) played a game, but it looked as the if the Bald Eagles never missed a beat, particularly in the second half where LHU shot 58 percent which powered The Haven past Mercyhurst University (5-5, 3-3 PSAC), 71-56 today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) dropped a game-high 19 points, which helped Lock Haven snap a three-game losing streak.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 17 points and
Khaleeq Campbell (Chester, Pa./Chester) knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.
Hinton also had 12 rebounds, including 11 on the defensive side, three blocks, two steals and one assist. He was 6 of 10 from the field and 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) added eight points.
Another workmanlike effort from
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) produced six points, four rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Brahieme Jackson (Philadelphia/Bishop McDevitt) added six points and six rebounds off the bench.
Lock Haven led by one at the break, 29-28, but the Bald Eagles outscored the Lakers 42-28 in the second half. In the second, LHU shot 58 percent and dominated every phase of the game.
LHU will open the 2017 portion of its schedule on Tuesday, January 3 at 7:30 p.m. when the Bald Eagles travel to East Stroudsburg for PSAC Eastern Division action.
