THOMASVILLE, N.C. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (4-2) opened up its annual spring break trip today with a doubleheader sweep of California (Pa.) University (3-7) in Thomasville, North Carolina.

The Bald Eagles never trailed in game one, taking the opener 6-4 and The Haven rolled in game two to a 14-1 win.
Matt Lahn (Georgetown, Ontario/Erie Community College),
Justin Sleigh (DuBois, Pa./DuBois and
Ethan Moore (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) all went 2-for-4 in game one at the plate to lead the Bald Eagles.

Lahn came around to score twice, Sleigh had a double, an RBI and a run scored, and Moore added an RBI.

Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) started on the mound for LHU and had a solid outing. He went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits. Watson struck out four on his way to his second win of the young season.

Nick Hornbaker (Lancaster, Pa./East Stroudsburg University) closed the door, as he recorded the final five outs of the game to earn the save.

The Vulcans threatened to tie, or even win the game in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with just one out. Hornbaker escaped, however, as he induced a 1-6-3 game-ending double-play.

The win marked the 250
th in the career of Lock Haven skipper
Jim Chester.

Lock Haven came out of the gates rolling in game two and never let up. The Bald Eagles scored at least one run in every inning on their way to the 14-1 win.

Moore had another big game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a walk. He unleashed his power in the second inning when he smashed a grand slam that broke the game open for LHU.

Hunter Szaflarski (Greencastle, Pa./Hagerstown Community College) was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Mike Anthony (Audubon, Pa./North Hampton Community College) was outstanding on the mound. Anthony threw six innings and allowed just one run on four hits while recording six strikeouts.

Lock Haven and California are right back at it tomorrow when the two teams square off for one, nine inning game. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
