LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University lacrosse team is set to make its 13
th consecutive trip to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament.
The Bald Eagles will open their title defense on Saturday, April 30 at home vs. Seton Hill. The game is set for a noon start.
Lock Haven has won the last two PSAC Tournament titles and the Bald Eagles have played in each of the last three championship games.
The 2016 season marked the first for head coach
Lindsay Reese, who returned to her alma mater in September to take over the program. LHU finished the regular season at 13-4 overall and the Bald Eagles went 8-4 in PSAC play.
Setting the stage:
Lock Haven is the tournament's No. 4 seed and plays host to No. 5 Seton Hill on Saturday (April 30) at noon. In other tournament action, No. 3 IUP hosts No. 6 Millersville (noon).
The winners of both contests will advance to the PSAC semifinals, scheduled for Friday, May 6 in Erie, Pennsylvania at Mercyhurst, the tournament's top-seed.
The winner of the Lock Haven – Seton Hill contest will advance to play No. 1 Mercyhurst, while the winner of the IUP – Millersville game gets No. 2 West Chester.
The 2016 PSAC Championship game is set for Sunday, May 8 at Mercyhurst.
Semifinal and final game times are to be determined.
PSAC Championship history:
The 2016 PSAC Tournament marks Lock Haven's 13
th straight as the Bald Eagles have advanced to at least the PSAC semifinals every year since 2004.
Lock Haven has won two straight PSAC titles and has played in the championship game in each of the last three seasons. LHU has controlled the PSAC lacrosse scene as of late and has won five of the last seven championships.
Since 2004, LHU has played in nine championship matches.
Dominance at home:
The Bald Eagles went 8-0 at home during the 2016 regular season, marking the third straight regular season where they didn't drop a game on Charlotte Smith Field. In all, Lock Haven has won 29 straight games at home and that streak stretches to 36 for regular season contests won at home.
Last time vs. Seton Hill:
Lock Haven and Seton Hill met early during the 2016 regular season (March 19) and LHU held on to win a 9-8 thriller. The Bald Eagles led 8-2 at halftime, but Seton Hill scored six second-half goals to make it a game.

If Lock Haven defeats Seton Hill Saturday, the Bald Eagles will advance to meet Mercyhurst in the PSAC semifinals. If the Bald Eagles lose, they will await 2016 NCAA Division II Selection Show scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 to see if they receive a bid to the 2016 Tournament.
