CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (8-6 overall, 4-6 PSAC) turned in a dominating effort tonight on the road at Cheyney University (1-13, 1-9 PSAC) and it resulted in a big 103-74 conference-win.
The win was Lock Haven's second straight and third in the last five games. It also marked the second time this season where the Bald Eagles surpassed the century mark racking up a total of 103 after a balanced offensive night.
As a team, LHU shot 50 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range. The Bald Eagles hit a total of 10 3's including four from
Khaleeq Campbell (Chester, Pa./Chester). Campell finished with a career-high 18 points and was one of six Lock Haven players who finished in double-figure scoring.
Amir Hinton (Philadelphia/Abington) matched his career-high and led all scorers with 27 points.
Ra'eese Hunt (Upper Marlboro, Md./Riverdale Baptist) finished with 15 points and
Cole Renninger (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) netted 14. Both
Jihad Barnes (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) and
Tarojae Brake (Coatesville, Pa./Octorara) netted 10 points apiece.
Renninger added six rebounds and six assists.
Jakwon McQueen (Philadelphia/Philadelphia Electric Charter) got into the fix and recorded five points and six rebounds.
It was a seven point game at halftime as LHU led, but the Bald Eagles opened the second half on a big run to break open the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East tilt.
Not to be overlooked, the Bald Eagle defense played solid again and forced 23 turnovers.
The Bald Eagles will close out a busy week on Saturday (Jan. 14) at home vs. No. 8 Shippensburg University (4 p.m.). After that, LHU heads to local-rival Mansfield University next Wednesday, January 18 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
