LHU falls on the road at Wilmington (Del.)

The LHU women’s basketball team surged in the second half, but ultimately fell on the road at Wilmington (Del.)

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-8) outscored Wilmington (Del.) University (4-6)  47-38 in the second half, but couldn't quite complete the comeback as the Bald Eagles fell to the Wildcats on the road 79-66.
 
Lock Haven trailed by 22 points at the half, but really picked it up after the break as they were able to cut the Wilmington lead to only eight with a little over four minutes to play.
 
After scoring only 19 points in the first 20 minutes of play, LHU erupted for 47 points in the last two quarters while shooting 47 percent from the field and 42 percent from the three-point line.
 
The Haven offense was led by Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and Kayla Henderson (Philadelphia/Lackawanna College) as they both were able to score 15 points.
 
Maimuna Kenneh (Coatesville, Pa./Collegium Charter) and Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) both chipped in as well with 13 points apiece.
 
Kenneh also added seven rebounds while Shelton-Burleigh added six.
 
Freshman Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) played well for the Bald Eagles, tallying five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
 
Up next:
The Bald Eagles have a long layoff for the holidays and will return to Thomas Fieldhouse for their next game against Bloomsburg. That game is scheduled for December 30, 2017 with a 2:00 pm tip.
