JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (4-1-1, 2-0-0 PSAC) used a powerful offensive attack to down Pitt-Johnstown (1-3-0, 0-2-0 PSAC), 2-1.
The Haven fired 30 shots, 15 on target and had nine corners as they pressured the Mountain Cat defense all game. After an early Pitt-Johnstown goal, the Bald Eagles locked in and began to smother the ball with defensive pressure.
In the 22
nd minute,
Andrew Moore (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) put in a header off of a corner kick from
Christian Wieand (Elizabethtown, Pa./Muhlenburg) to start the scoring for The Haven and tie the game at 1-1.
Shane Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) then put Lock Haven ahead for good 74
th minute with a goal off of the pass from
Zach Hommey (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville).
The Haven was on the attack all day and really made the Pitt-Johnstown defense work.
Reggie Holt (Pittsburgh/Penn Hills),
Matthew McDermott (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg H.S.) and
Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) all had five shots with Holt and McDermott putting three of those shots on target each.
The Bald Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday (September 19) as they will hit the road to take on Saint Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 p.m.
