LHU tops Concord, splits day 2 of Notre Dame College Invitational Volleyball Tournament

The LHU volleyball team downed Concord 3-1 to split at Day 2 of the Notre Dame College Invitational and finish the tournament at 3-1.

SOUTH EUCLID, OH. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (7-5) downed Concord (3-9) in the Bald Eagles final match of four at this weekend's Notre Dame College Invitational in South Euclid.
 
Lock Haven opened the day with a very tight 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18 & 11-15) loss to host Notre Dame College, but earned the Day 2 split, thanks to a 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-22 & 26-24) victory over Concord.
                               
Yesterday (Friday, Sept. 15), The Haven opened the tournament with a pair of victories over Salem International and West Virginia Wesleyan.
 
In today's opener vs. Notre Dame College, which proved to be a very competitive battle between both teams, The Haven had four players with double digit kills, led by Breanna McDonald (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) with 16. 
 
Kristen Nealon (Horsham, Pa./Archbishop Wood) played a great game for the Bald Eagles, tallying 47 assists while Shaye Whiteman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) did what she could to keep things alive defensively, tallying 32 digs. 
 
In the win over Concord, Lock Haven used a total team effort to get the win.  The Haven was led by the trio of Chloe Williams (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), Veronica Morrison (Sugar Run, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) and Gabrielle Stick (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) as they had 16, 15 and 14 kills respectively. 
 
Nealon was once again the distributor on offense for the Bald Eagles, tallying 54 assists while Whiteman was again the defensive anchor, tallying 30 digs.  
 
The Bald Eagles will return to the nest for the first time this season as they play Slippery Rock Friday (September 22) at 7:00 pm in their home and PSAC opener.
