LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-4) returned from its holiday break this afternoon at home and despite a huge push in the fourth quarter, visiting Seton Hill (8-3) slipped by the Bald Eagles, 76-69.
Trailing 63-52 heading in the final quarter, LHU opened the fourth quarter on a huge run and got back into the game. The rally made it a game late, but the visiting Griffins held on and escaped Thomas Fieldhouse with their eighth win of the season. Seton Hill improved to 8-3, while Lock Haven moved to 7-4.
Leading the way for Lock Haven today was
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) who scored a team-high 19 points. She was lights out in the first half.
Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) turned it up in the second half and finished with 13 points. She knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Kendra Stanford (Philadelphia/Penn State Brandywine) added 10 points in a strong effort. The 10-point effort marked the best scoring outing for Stanford thus far in her LHU career.
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) had seven points and five rebounds and
Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) added six points and eight rebounds.
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) finished with six rebounds, five points and four assists.
Lock Haven entered today's game a perfect 4-0 at home on the PSECU Court at Thomas Fieldhouse. Today marked the Bald Eagles first game since December 19 before LHU broke for the holidays.
LHU will waste little time in hitting the court in the new calendar year as the Bald Eagles head east on Interstate-80 Wednesday, January 2, 2019 to take on local-rival Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action. The game will be LHU's 2018-19 PSAC East opener and tip is set for 5:30 p.m. at Bloomsburg. On the season, Lock Haven is 3-2 in PSAC play.
