Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey downs Cornell, 3-1

The LHU field hockey team capped a perfect weekend at home by downing Cornell 3-1 today on Charlotte Smith Field.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Three different Bald Eagles scored in the first half and the Lock Haven University field hockey team (3-1) downed visiting Cornell University (0-2), 3-1 today on Charlotte Smith Field.

Dana-Lee De Gannes (Maraval, Trinidad and Tobago/Maraval), Tamia Roach (Petit Valley, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Joseph's Convent Port-of-Spain) and Katie Supey (Lehman, Pa./Syracuse) all scored for Lock Haven.

Roach led the offense as she also recorded a pair of assists to go along with her goal in the 17th minute.

Roach set up De Gannes for the game's first goal just 9:36 into the contest after a strong run down the sideline and into the crease. Roach made it 2-0 in 16:13 into the game after she collected a loose ball in the crease and fired it low at the far post. Just over three minutes later it was 3-0, thanks to a goal from Supey. Again, it was Roach who set up the goal.

Early in the second half Cornell rallied and LHU goalkeeper Brianna DeAngelis (Doylestown, Pa./Monmouth) made two big saves. She finished with three in 70 minutes of action.

Cornell did get one back and scored in the 50th minute, but the goal couldn't overshadow a tremendous defensive effort from Lock Haven. Leading the way was Tia Judy (East Prospect, Pa./Homeschooled), but it was another total-team effort on defense that paved the way for the win.

Today's win capped a perfect weekend at home for LHU. On Friday (Aug. 31) – in Lock Haven's 2018 home-opener – the Bald Eagles downed Towson 6-0.

Through two games at home, LHU is 2-0 and has outscored opponents 9-1.

The two wins this weekend also move head coach Pat Rudy closer to win No. 600. She now has 596 career wins. Today's win was Rudy's 350th at LHU, her alma mater.
