Men’s Soccer plays W.Va. Wesleyan to 0-0 draw (2OT)

The LHU men’s soccer team and visiting West Virginia Wesleyan battled hot and humid temperatures, and after 110 minutes (2OT), the non-conference match ended in a 0-0 draw.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's soccer team (0-1-1) looked poised to break through on the scoresheet late in the second half, but the Bald Eagles couldn't find the back of the net, and LHU and West Virginia Wesleyan (0-0-2) battled to a 0-0 double-overtime draw.

Over 110 total minutes of action, W.Va. Wesleyan held a slight 18-17 advantage in shots.

Lock Haven tilted the field and put the pressure on in the second half.

In the 69th minute, Matthew McDermott (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) hit the post and in the 82nd minute, Beckham Sibiski (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown H.S.) sent a bending-shot from 22 yards out just wide. Even later, Andrew Moore (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) looked to break the game open, but his header was saved by Sahil Dhunnookchad in the final minutes of play.

LHU goalkeeper Camden Cook (Rosedale, Md./High Point) finished with six saves.

Another strong Bald Eagle defensive effort was led by Alec Mapoy (Brick, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) and rookie Steven Schankweiler (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).

LHU will hit the road to take on Felician on Wednesday, September 5 (6:30 p.m.).
