WBB: Parker, powers the Haven past Nyack

LHU Women’s Basketball paced by Parker’s 22 points started strong and brought home a win versus Nyack.

NYACK, N.Y.- The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (9-9) used a 44 point first half outburst to down Nyack University (3-14), 74-53, on Saturday afternoon in Nyack, NY.

The Bald Eagles first half featured 50 percent shooting from the field including six made three pointers four of which came from Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) who finished the day 4 of 7 from beyond the arc with 14 points.

Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey), the Haven's leading scorer, paced the offense and finished with an efficient 22-point performance on 9 of 15 shooting from the field. Parker also grabbed six rebounds and also blocked one shot to round out her day.

Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) was the Haven's third scorer in double digits as she finished with 11 points on 50 percent from the floor. Redman also grabbed seven boards and recorded two assists and two steals.

Tiana Garvin (Philadelphia, Pa./Cecil Community College) was a force on the glass grabbing a game high 11 rebounds. Garvin also scored seven points and two steals in 18 minutes of play. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) led the Lock Haven offense with her game high seven assists and chipped in with six points.

The Bald Eagle defense was able to stifle Nyack and hold them to just 30 percent shooting from the field and 27 percent from three-point range on the day. The Haven forced the Warriors into 16 turnovers and had three blocked shots to help propel the Bald Eagles to the win.
