LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) netted 21 points and was one of five players in double-figures scoring, and freshman
Nadia Romanchock (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had an all-around career day, as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (8-5, 4-3 PSAC East) rolled to an 80-46 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory over visiting Mansfield University (0-10, 0-6 PSAC East).
The Bald Eagles cruised from the start and led 22-9 after the opening quarter. LHU was strong in all phases of the game. Once again, it was a balanced scoring approach that led The Haven. Lock Haven made 12 3-pointers, got 20 points from the bench and added 11 points off Mansfield turnovers.
Parker was 8 of 15 from the floor on the way to her game-high 21 points. She added five rebounds as the Bald Eagles dominated that category as well.
Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) provided 14 points,
Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) scored 12, Romanchock netted a career-high 11 and
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) added 10 to round out the double-figure scorers.
It was another brilliant effort from the rookie-duo of Romachock and Leidy. Romachock added a career-high eight rebounds to go along with her career-outing in points. Leidy added three rebounds and six assists.
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and dished out four assists.
Leidy was 2 of 4 from 3-point range and Devine knocked down a trio of 3's.
The Lock Haven defense forced 19 turnovers.
Today marked Lock Haven's first PSAC East game at home this season. LHU opened PSAC East play on Wednesday (Jan. 2) at local-rival Bloomsburg and the host-Huskies earned the 77-58 victory. For Mansfield, today's game was the first for the Mounties since a December 30
th loss at home vs. East Stroudsburg.
With the win, Lock Haven got back in the win column and snapped a four-game skid.
The Bald Eagles will travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, January 9 for a 6 p.m. PSAC East contest.
