GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Competing today at the 31
st annual Gettysburg Invitational, the regionally-ranked Lock Haven University men's cross country team formed a tight six-man pack, as the Bald Eagles finished 12
th of 28 teams in the LHU's final prep work before next week's conference championships meet.
Hunter Confair (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) was Lock Haven's top finisher and he was followed very closely by
Zack Skrabski (Pittsburgh/South Park),
Brett Pope (Pleasant Gap, Pa./Connections Commonwealth Academy),
Evan Schlosser (York, Pa./York Cathloic),
John Davern (Manchester, N.J./Manchester) and
Jace Kreamer (Middleburg, Pa./Mid-West).
The Bald Eagles now turn their attention to the postseason, as they will return to action on Friday, October 25 at the 2019 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
Today's race served as a perfect final tune up for the postseason and leading the way was Confair, who covered the 8,000-meter course in 28:49.2. He was 86
th overall out of 230-plus runners. He scored in 71
st place.
Confair and Kreamer, LHU's No. 6 runner today, finished within six seconds of each other, as the pack held together strong for the duration of the race today.
This week (Oct. 15), the LHU men were ranked No. 6 in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll. Last season, Lock Haven placed third at the PSAC Championships.
Next Friday's (Oct. 25) PSAC Championship meet will be hosted by Bloomsburg University.
