MBB: Offensive explosion powers Bald Eagles past Carlow

The LHU men’s basketball team scored their most points since 2017 in another non-conference win on Monday night.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (3-0) continued their quick start to the season and rolled past Carlow University (0-6), 103-65, on Monday night.

The Bald Eagles 103 points was the first time the Haven cracked 100 points since December 18, 2017 when LHU racked up 107 points against PSU Mont Alto. The 38-point margin of victory also marks the second time in just three games the Bald Eagles have outscored their opponents by 30 or more points.

The offensive barrage was propelled by a stingy defense which forced 13 Celtic turnovers, including seven steals. The Haven defense also held Carlow to just 34 percent from the field, while shooting 48 percent as a team. The Bald Eagles dominated the paint holding a commanding 60-28 advantage in points in the paint.

Lock Haven used a balanced scoring attack to power past the Celtics as four Bald Eagles scored double figures. Christian Kelly (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) paced the offense once again as he poured in 25 points on an efficient 8-13 from the field and gathered in 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the year.

Nasir Campbell (Philadelphia/Simon Gratz) also recorded his first double-double for the season knocking down 16 points and hauling in 14 boards. Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) and Matt Cerruti (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) rounded out the four Bald Eagles in double figures with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Trevor Lecuona (Baltimore, Md./Oakdale) led all players with seven assists. The Bald Eagles held a wide 26-14 margin in assists, notching helpers on 58 percent of their field goals.
