Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer drops hard fought match to nationally ranked ESU

The LHU women’s soccer team played a great game but ultimately fell to visiting ESU.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – On a chilly afternoon here in Lock Haven the action was hot on the field. The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (3-10-2, 3-10-1 PSACE) fell to visiting East Stroudsburg (14-4, 11-3 PSACE) by a final score of 3-2.

The first half had no shortage of action as there were four total goals. Two coming from ESU and two from LHU.

The Warriors scored the first two goals of the game scoring in the 6th minute and the 21st minute respectively.

The Bald Eagles would not go away. Just 10 seconds after the Warriors scored their second goal, Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Junita) got the ball off the opening kick-off, sliced through the ESU defense for her third goal of the year.

Just before halftime, Megan Ramaley (Aliquippa, Pa./ Hopewell) was able find the equalizer for the Bald Eagles. Haleigh Swam (West Minster, Md./ Winters Mill) fired the initial shot for Lock Haven that was blocked but it ended up finding the foot of Ramaley who finished the ball far post past the ESU keeper.

The game remained knotted up for the majority of the second half with most of the action happening in the middle of the field.

In the 78th minute of play ESU would take the lead for good off a goal from Jules Sicker.

The defensive unit of Taylor Moritz      (Harleysville, Pa./ Soudertown High), Erika Landis (Watsontown, Pa./ Warrior Run) and Chyanne Cook (Mountain Top, Pa./ Crestwood) stood tall to keep LHU in the game.

Karly Trillhaase (Eatontown, Ny./ Monmouth Regional) finished the game with five saves which was good for a game high.
