SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Rileigh Devine (Etters, Pa./Red Land) netted four 3-pointers on the way to 14 points and
Bink Redman (York, Pa./William Penn) dominated the glass, as the two powered the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (13-11, 8-9 PSAC East) to a crucial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division win. A tremendous start helped the Bald Eagles drop host Shippensburg University (11-14, 7-10 PSAC) 65-50, as LHU pushed closer to clinching a PSAC playoff berth.
The Bald Eagles are now 13-11 (8-9 PSAC East). For LHU, the 13 wins mark the most since the Bald Eagles won 12 (12-15) during the 2006-07 season.
Devine's 14 points matched a game-high and Redman pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, as the duo fueled the win.
Devine entered today's game with 57 3's on the season, which had her needing just one to set a new single-season school record for made 3-pointers in a season. She now has 61 3's this year and broke Tara Macciocco's 1998-99 season record of 57. Devine now has 130 career made 3-pointers and is just 12 away from tying the all-time career record (Suzie Baird, 142 (2000-04)).
Redman did it all today, adding six points and five assists.
Lock Haven led 42-20 at halftime and got a balanced scoring attack throughout.
Nadia Romanchock (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and
Ahnera Parker (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) both scored nine points, while
Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh (State College, Pa./State College) had nine points and seven rebounds.
Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) added seven points and
Ayanda McGill-Jefferson (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) grabbed seven rebounds.
Another important PSAC East contest awaits Lock Haven, as the Bald Eagles will return to the court on Wednesday, February 20 at 5:30 p.m. vs. West Chester.
