LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Rachel Ward, a 2015 Lock Haven University graduate and former Bald Eagle lacrosse standout, will make her third appearance for Ireland's National Team. Ireland and Ward will compete in the ELF European Championship in Netanya, Israel from July 16-25, 2019. Ireland is currently ranked fifth in Europe entering the tournament.
Ireland, "The Green Machine," drew a spot in the Blue Division of the tournament, a division that includes England, Wales, Scotland, Israel and Germany. The team returns nine players from the 2017 World Cup, and two players from the 2015 European Championship. Six players will look to make their first appearance as members of the Irish National Team.
Ward, who is the currently an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Grand Valley State, was named to Team Ireland's World Cup squad in March. She last appeared for the Irish National Team at the 2017 World Cup. Ireland finished the World Cup in 13
th place, a tournament in which the USA won their third straight gold medal.
Following her senior season at LHU in 2015, in which she racked up 52 goals; Ward was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team.
