LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The regionally-ranked Lock Haven University men's cross country team opened the 2019 season tonight in traditional fashion by hosting Division I Penn State at the Dolan Duals.
The meet, an annual dual vs. Penn State, started in 2007 and is named in honor of Jim Dolan, a former LHU professor and cross country coach, who remains one of The Haven's biggest track and field and cross country supporters. As part of the special dual-meet to kick off the season, Dolan acts as the honorary starter for both the men's and women's race.
Leading the way for the LHU men this evening was
Aaron Pfeil (Pittsburgh/South Fayette) who finished 10
th overall. He covered the 6,000-meter course in 18:30.47.
Luke Vanderhoff (Hamburg, N.J./Wall Kill Valley) was 15
th with a time of 18:44.68 and
John Davern (Manchester, N.J./Manchester) cracked the top-20 with a 19:14.40 finish (19
th).
Hunter Confair (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) and
Zack Skrabski (Pittsburgh/South Park) rounded out the Bald Eagles top-five runners today.
Lock Haven will return to action on Saturday, September 14 at the Division II/III Challenge, hosted by Kutztown.
