Men’s Basketball rolls to big win over Chestnut Hill

The LHU men’s basketball team used a huge second half to notch a 28-point win over visiting Chestnut Hill.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (2-0) used a massive second-half scoring run to power past Chestnut Hill College (1-3), 95-67, in non-conference action at Thomas Fieldhouse.
 
In the first half, Chestnut Hill stuck right with the Bald Eagles behind 44.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. LHU was able to build a 41-36 lead going into the halftime break with some key defensive stops.
 
Right out of halftime, LHU took the game to the Griffins and imposed their will ballooning the lead to as much as 33 points late in the second half. Lock Haven forced 15 total turnovers and shot a blistering 68.8 percent from the field in the second half, and 57.6 percent for the game. LHU also got a 15-point scoring run midway through the second half, which helped propel them to the lopsided 95-67 victory.
 
MarkAnthony Fidelis (Largo, Md./DeMatha) paced all scorers and poured in 26 points on 9-15 from the field, including an impressive 4-6 from beyond the arc. Fidelis also grabbed four rebounds and handed out three assists.
 
Eli Washington (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) also went over 20 points for LHU, logging 21 points on an incredibly efficient 8-11 from the field and a perfect 2-2 from three-point range. Washington led all players with five assists and grabbed two steals.
 
Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Jesse McPherson (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) rounded out four Bald Eagles in double figures with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Montague went 6-8 from the field and 2-2 from beyond the arc, while McPherson was 7-9 from the floor and hauled in a game-high nine boards.
 
Lock Haven dominated the paint all game long and held a commanding 50-28 advantage in points in the paint. LHU also blocked five Griffin shots led by McPherson and Montague, who each notched two blocks.
 
Up Next:
The Bald Eagles hit the road for the first time this season on Tuesday, November 23 when they travel to Holy Family. That game is slated for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
