LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (9-15, 9-15 PSAC East) fell today to visiting East Stroudsburg University (22-12, 13-11 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action. The Warriors took game one by a score of 4-3, and 6-1 in the second game.
Game 1: L, 4-3
East Stroudsburg took control of game one early, plating two runs in the top of the first on three hits. The Warriors would extend their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
LHU got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, plating a run of their own. Continuing to swing a hot bat,
Riley McClellan (Granvillesummit, Pa./ Troy) led off the inning lacing a double to center field narrowly missing a home run. Later in the frame,
Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./ Lawrence) recorded a single of her own pushing McClellan to third who later scored on a sacrifice fly from
Sydney Arrigale (Blackwood, N.J./ Highland Regional).

ESU plated another run in the top of the seventh to push the lead to three runs but LHU refused to go down quietly.

With two outs and a runner on base,
Casey Carpenter (Springbrook, Pa./ North Pocono) crushed a ball over the left field fence to bring the game within one run. Ultimately, ESU held on and escaped game one with the 4-3 win.

The home run for Carpenter marked her 27
th career home run as a member of the Bald Eagles.Â

Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./ Warrior Run) turned in a solid game one going seven innings and having three earned runs to her line. Waltman scattered nine hits and struck out for batters along the way.

Game 2: L, 6-1

The Warriors struck once again in the first inning and took a 1-0 lead, which held until the Warriors tacked on one more in the top half of the third inning, and two more in the fourth inning to push the lead to 4-0. ESU pushed their lead to 6-0 in the fifth, before
Kierston Long (Sunbury, Pa./ Shikellamy) laced an RBI-single in the bottom of the seventh for the lone Bald Eagle run on the day. East Stroudsburg held on for the 6-1 final score.

Offensively, McClellan added another base hit to her day and Lestician tallied two more hits to lead the Bald Eagles with three hits on the day. Arrigale, Long and
Amanda Criss (Bel Air, Md./ Bel Air) each notched base hits of their own to round out The Haven's six hits in game two.

The Bald Eagles wrap up their weekend series tomorrow on the road with another doubleheader against East Stroudsburg. First pitch for Saturday's games is slated for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
