ST. LOUIS – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (2-4, 1-1 A-10) got the offense rolling and goalkeeper
Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School) made 12 saves as the Bald Eagles downed Saint Louis (0-8, 0-2 A-10), 6-2, on the road in Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) action.
The win marked LHU's first road win of the season and served as Lock Haven's first conference win of the 2021 campaign. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak and the six-goal effort helped the Bald Eagles get the offense rolling in their favor again.
The six-goal contest marked LHU's most goals scored in a single game since the Bald Eagles tallied six vs. Colgate back on September 9, 2018.
After a 10-save effort last weekend vs. Georgetown, Orlandini had another brilliant effort today. She made 12 saves in tonight's win marking the most saves in a single game for a Lock Haven goalkeeper since Paige Stuppy was credited with 12 saves back on October 23, 2016 vs. Bucknell.
Constanza Lopez Zabala (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Martin y Omar) led Lock Haven with two goals and one assist.
Jasmine Miller (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor),
Zhao Rodrigo (Valencia, Spain/Colegio San Bartoleme),
Amy Stevens (Castle Creek, N.Y./Whitney Point) and
Bella DiNardo (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley) all scored in the win. Stevens added two assists and Rodrigo added one.
Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget) and
Brooke Hofsass (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) both had assists as well in the win.
The Bald Eagles led 4-2 at halftime and added two second-half goals.
LHU has now won five straight vs. Saint Louis dating back to the 2016 season. In those five wins, Lock Haven has outscored the Billikens, 26-2.
Lock Haven's road-swing continues tomorrow (Saturday, September 25) when the Bald Eagles take on Bellermine at Saint Louis (5 p.m. EST.).
