BOONE, N.C. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (9-2) fell to Appalachian State (5-5), 3-2, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aries, Argentina/Piaget) continued her red-hot weekend and added in another two goals for the Bald Eagles.

The junior Spangenberg handed LHU the 1-0 lead nine minutes into the opening period.

The Mountaineers equalized just 40 seconds into the second period when Friederike Stegen knotted things up at 1-1.

Spangenberg again came to the rescue for The Haven and pushed the Bald Eagles back in front with her second goal of the game, and Lock Haven took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Appalachian State bounced back once more in the fourth quarter when Stegen scored again to even the contest up at 2-2. The Mountaineers completed the comeback with under five minutes remaining in the game to take home the 3-2 win thanks to a goal from Rachel Fleig.

The Mountaineers held a decisive 12-3 lead in penalty corners.

Spangenberg fired off three of the Bald Eagles seven shots, and
Jazmin Palma (Entre Rios Providence Argentina/Colegio Sagrado Corazon de Jesus) added another two shots while anchoring the defensive unit.

In goal,
Kelsey Felix (Hallam, Pa./Eastern York) made a strong nine saves, but faced 15 total shots from the Mountaineers.
