SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Standout Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) sprinted to an individual conference title at 400 meters and freshman Peter Bellomo (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) used an impressive throw to place second in the javelin as the two headlined the Lock Haven men's outdoor track and field team's effort today (Sunday, May 5) on the final day of competition at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
 
At 400 meters, Miller used a strong start and tremendous finish to best the field in today's finals with a sensational effort of 48.19. Miller returned and capped a brilliant Championship-Sunday double with a fifth-place showing at 200 meters (21.80).
 
Bellomo used an impressive throw of 206-02 to place second in the javelin. The silver-medal earning throw surpassed the NCAA Division II championship qualifying mark.
 
By way of their top-three finishes, both Miller (400m) and Bellomo (Jav.) earned All-Conference honors.
 
Josiah Schans (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) scored in the 110-meter hurdles behind a sixth-place finish, thanks to a time of 14.82. Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.74.
 
Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Gavin Furey (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) both scored in the 800-meter run today. Gavitt was fifth with a time of 1:56.14 and Furey finished eighth (1:59.05).
 
Jakob Rager (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown Area) rounded out Lock Haven's strong individual efforts Sunday. He ran 15:11.13 today, and scored in eighth at 5,000 meters.
 
The Bald Eagles opened the day on the track with a fifth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay (42.49).
 
The Haven men closed the meet with another remarkable effort as the Bald Eagles placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.56.
 
It was Justice Shoats (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) who led the way yesterday (Saturday) on Day 2 action at the PSAC Championships. Shoats was one of several individuals who stood out for the Bald Eagles as he scored big in the long jump and the high jump while putting big team points on the board for The Haven. He placed second in the long jump (23-00.75) and he finished third in the high jump (6-04.75). By way of the top-three finishes, Shoats earned the distinction of an All-Conference honoree.
 
Kwame Whitaker Jr. (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) scored Saturday for Lock Haven as he tied for eighth in the long jump (22-01.00).
 
The 2024 PSAC Championship opened Friday and Eric Zalar (Shamokin, Pa./Shamokin) led the way for The Haven. Zalar put team points on the board for the Bald Eagles on Day 1 with a sixth-place finish in the hammer throw. His mark of 167-03 marked a collegiate best and cracked Lock Haven's all-time top-10 list.
 
Today's (Sunday) action marked the third and final day in Shippensburg at the 2024 PSAC Championship. As a team, Lock Haven scored 60.5 team points and placed a notable fifth of 12 in the team standings.
