LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven men's basketball redshirt sophomore
Blake Deegan was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The honor for Deegan came after the Bald Eagles' 1-1 opening weekend at the Atlantic Region Challenge, hosted by Slippery Rock.
Lock Haven fell in its season opener to Davis & Elkins, before downing West Virginia Wesleyan 68-67 on a last second layup by Deon Coleman-Newsome. On Monday night, The Haven hosted Penn State-Scranton for its home opener and ran away with a 94-64 victory.
Deegan totaled three blocks, four steals and 13 rebounds in the Atlantic Region Challenge this weekend.
Deegan's best performance came in the opener against Davis & Elkins, with two blocks, two steals and eight rebounds. Deegan also recorded multiple steals and a block while Lock Haven held West Virginia Wesleyan to 26 second-half points in a 68-67 victory.
The Bald Eagles (2-1 overall) return to action on Thursday night, Nov. 20 (6 p.m.) and will travel to Philadelphia to take on Holy Family in a non-conference game.
