Four Bald Eagles earn 2025 Women’s Wrestling NWCA/NCAA Scholar All-American

NWCA announces NCAA Women’s Wrestling Scholar All-Americans; Lock Haven’s Laws, Monaghan, Pletz and Sherer honored

MANHEIM, Pa. – After leading the Bald Eagles on the mat and in the classroom, a program-record four Lock Haven women's wrestlers were named 2025 NCAA Scholar All-Americans, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Lindsay Laws (Health Science), junior Trinity Monaghan (Sports Management), freshman Jayleah Pletz (Education) and senior Lily Sherer (Sports Management) were named 2025 NCAA Women's Wrestling Scholar All-Americans.
 
These student-athletes have demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom and have met one of the following academic and athletic criteria: top-eight placer at nationals and at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA, competed in a minimum of 15 matches and has at least a 3.5 Cumulative GPA, or was a national qualifier and has at least a 3.25 Cumulative GPA.
 
The four Scholar All-American selections is the most in program history.
 
The quartet helped lead Lock Haven to a top-20 team finish at the NCWWC National Championship for the second year in a row.
 
Sherer wrapped up her standout career with the Bald Eagles as a four-time national championship qualifier and the program's all-time wins leader. As a senior, Sherer qualified for nationals after placing third at 131# at the Region 2 Championship.
 
Pletz, Laws and Monaghan qualified for their first NCWWC National Championship this season after dominate runs at the Region 2 Championships.
 
At regionals, Pletz brought home gold at 117#, Laws placed second at 180# and Monaghan earned bronze at 207#.
 
In total the 10 Bald Eagles wrestlers to qualify for Nationals is the most in program history, beating out the previous high of six set in 2024.
