CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lock Haven men's outdoor track and field team opened the 2025 outdoor season with a strong two days (Fri. – Sat., March 21-22) of competition at the Lee University Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Overall, The Haven men turned in a number of sensational individual efforts that led to NCAA Division II championship qualifying marks, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships qualifying marks, meet records and all-time top-five Lock Haven performance list marks.

Friday Highlights:
Zalar helped Lock Haven stand out in the hammer throw on Friday. He finished first of 22 with a throw of 193-09. It now stands as the second-best mark in program history, and is both a PSAC and NCAA DII championship qualifying mark.
Nathan Fetchkan added a PSAC mark in the hammer with a throw of 155-09. He was third overall in the event.
The Bald Eagles dominated the javelin throw Friday behind a sensational mark from Peter Bellamo who hit an NCAA DII and PSAC mark with a heave of 198-10. He was first and established a new meet record behind his effort.
Overall, six Lock Haven throwers finished among the top-10 in the javelin including recent NCAA DII Indoor All-American (heptathlon)
Matthew Muthler, who was second with a PSAC mark of 176-06.
Lock Haven shined at 800 meters behind three PSAC qualifying marks.
Morgan Gavitt ran 1:55.40 (13
th),
Gavin Furey ran 1:55.51 (14
th) and
Anden Atkins added a run of 1:55.90 in the field of 56 Friday.
At 10,000 meters,
Jakob Rager led the way with a second-place finish. He ran a PSAC time of 32:31.33. Four Bald Eagles finished in the top-10 of the event.
Michael Lawrence and
Chase Young finished second (43-07.75) and third (41-07.25) in the triple jump.
Ryan Miller ran strong early-season time of 22.07 in the 200-meter dash and finished 10th of 68.
Saturday Highlights:
Leading the way today (Saturday, March 22) was
Ryan Miller as he placed first in the 400-meter with a personal best time of 47.60. That strong time currently stands as the third-best in program history and is a PSAC and NCAA DII qualifying mark.
Nick Bellomo finished first in the decathlon by prevailing over the other competitors in five of the individual events to finish with 6274 points. Bellomo set meet records in the 100-meter, long jump, and pole vault with a time of 11.26, a leap of 21-08.75, and a vault of 14-01.25, respectively. The 400-meter and the shot put were the other two events Bellomo finished first in.
Ryan Miller was joined by
Brennan Miller, Muthler, and
Matt Reinard in the 4x400-meter relay and finished first-place with a time of 3:15.55.
Joining the long list of medalists during this meet is
Chase Young as he finished second in the long jump with a jump of 20-08.00.
Shawn Hertzog had a personal-best effort in the high jump with a height of 6-00.75, finishing in third-place.
In the discus throw, the duo of
Braedon Firanski and Zalar finished third and fourth place with personal-best distances. Firanski threw for a PSAC distance of 154-11 and Zalar threw for a distance of 154-05.
Josiah Schans hit a pair of PSAC times in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles with times of 14.87 and 56.37, finishing fourth and sixth in those respective events. Also, in the 400-meter hurdles, Reinard finished in fourth-place with a PSAC time of 55.63.
To round out the sensational meet for the Bald Eagles,
Evan Klinger finished sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a PSAC and personal best time of 9:59.02.

The Bald Eagles return to action on Friday (March 28) and Saturday (March 29) when they compete in the two-day Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University.
