WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lock Haven baseball team hosted Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East vs. West non-conference game at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa. on Wednesday afternoon. The Bald Eagles sent the game to extra innings with a late rally, but Mansfield scored the game-winning run in the 11
th inning to steal a 9-8 victory.
The midweek matinee took place at the Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of the Major League Baseball (MLB) Little League World Series Classic.
Lock Haven moves to 10-13 on the season while Mansfield improves to 8-11.
Trailing 8-5 with only three outs remaining, The Haven rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and
Morgen Billotte drove in the tying run on an RBI single to send the game into extras.
Nick White and
Stephen McMillan also drove in runs during the rally.
However, the Mounties scored what would serve as the game-winning run in the top of the 11
th to secure a 9-8 victory in dramatic fashion.
For Lock Haven, Billotte,
Kaden Rodarmel and
Ethan Nagy all racked up three hits, including doubles from Billotte and Nagy.
The Bald Eagles totaled 17 hits on the afternoon.
Billotte (2),
Robert Furino (2), McMillian and White all drove in runs for the Bald Eagles on the wild afternoon.
On the mound, the Bald Eagles utilized eight pitchers, with the freshman southpaw,
Kevin Grenninger leading the way with three-innings pitched in relief, striking out five batters and allowing only two hits and one run.
Brady Myers,
Caleb Zimmerman, and
Mason Curtier all pitched one inning and didn't allow a run.
Next up for The Haven:
The Bald Eagles return to Western Division play this weekend with a four-game series against No. 22 Seton Hill. The series kicks off on Friday, March 28 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Seton Hill, before coming to Lock Haven's Watkins Field on Saturday afternoon with game one starting at 1 p.m.
